My family and I just enjoyed an enchanting meal at Rooh in Palo Alto. We loved the inventive and modern menu, tasteful decor and warm staff. Being from India, we particularly appreciated the chef's refreshing take on Indian cuisine instead of the usual dishes you find everywhere these days. We ordered several small plates and a couple of larger entrees. Classics like Dahi Puri have been reimagined and look like cupcakes, but melt in your mouth with familiar and yummy flavors. The Aloo Tikki chaat resembled a French pastry, and the paneer chili roll is hard to describe but tastes delicious. For our entrees we tried butter chicken and the lamb shank biryani. The butter chicken was perfectly prepared and filling, but the lamb biryani was the highlight of our evening and a true revelation! Lamb that just melts off the bone and in your mouth, and fragrant saffron rice that even tempted my staunchly vegetarian mom to try a few bites. Bravo! We were lucky that Chef Apurva Panchal stopped by our table and graciously answered many questions about the food as well as his background. We are so impressed with his courage and desire to push Indian food to new heights. We will definitely be back!

I just had the pleasure of dining at ROOH to celebrate a friend's birthday. Everything was great from start to finish. Our server didn't rush us at all, and gave us recommendations on food and drinks. We started off with a round of cocktails and they did not disappoint. They were all beautifully presented and refreshing. I ordered the Mulberry Sour and the Patna Fizz and I highly recommend them both if you like acidity. As for the food, we started with the servers' recs of avocado and edamame bhel and the potato tikki chaat. Both vegetarian dishes, but tasty with great texture. We also sampled the lamb chops, butter chicken and stuffed branzino as well as saffron rice, garlic naan and plain naan. The entrees were perfectly seasoned and I'm glad we were in a large party so we could sample a variety of dishes. We then finished the meal with two desserts -- chenna poda and a mango tres leches cake. They were both light and not overly sweet. Having never been to ROOH in Palo Alto before, I was very impressed. Everything we sampled was vibrant and delicious! There was not a dish that I didn't like! I read that this place was Michelin recommended and now I know why!!!

I've been to ROOH SF and this was the first time visiting their Palo Alto location I stopped in to grab a drink before dinner with my friend. I order the Patana Fizz which was delicious and a side of garlic naan. All the other small bites seemed too large and rich for a solo eater Both locations are decorated beautifully and have such a romantic art deco vibe The food is quite pricey for Indian food .. but if you're looking for a special night out and Instagramable food ...this is a great spot to book

One of the best Indian meals I have had in the area. Small but beautiful plates and a unique menu. Tandoori chicken bomba, duck seekh kebab, and lamb chops were memorable dishes. Refreshingly light meal even after ordering lots of curries. Mango tres leches was a unique and refreshing dessert, highly recommend. Naans are expensive but made fresh! If it comes out too hot to eat, it likely just came off the oven. Surprising amount of engagement on the web-hosted online menu: https://www.roohrestaurants.com/pa-dinner Three minor comments: 1. Pricing is steep for sides especially ($6 naans) 2. Channa tomato base was not fully incorporated into the dish as a whole and did not come together as well as the other dishes 3. Few server mix ups (charged for water, missed 1-2 orders, receipt issues) but overall wonderful service and friendly staff

Great service and ambience. We came in with a large group, and we chose a pre-fix. They made a vegan meal for me and all items were well made; I could see the team cared about my dietary restrictions and understood what is vegan and not which is usually harder at an Indian restaurant.

I was originally going to book at the SF location but palo alto was closer for us and less traffic so we decided to try Rooh in Palo Alto. I was skeptical at first because of the many reviews about their service.., but overall, i didn't have a bad experience! The waiters were nice and attentive to us and our food came out quick! The food was pretty good. The garlic naan was ok. Our favorites of what we tried were the tandoori chicken and the butter chicken! Soo good! I liked the Ratnagiri cocktail a lot, it tasted like a mango mousse!! The ambiance was pretty as well! Very modern and upscale inside.
